The Real Estate Law Practice

Ken represents a wide range of buyers, sellers, owners, developers, investors and other equity participants in commercial, industrial and residential real estate acquisition, development, investment, construction, financing, deal and entity structuring and restructuring, retail, warehouse, multi-family, medical office, mixed use, technology, joint venture, distressed property, and private equity projects and disputes.  He has extensive experience drafting and negotiating contracts and other deal documents for a wide range of real estate transactions, as well as commercial and residential leases and subleases for landlords and tenants, including leases and ground leases for office, retail, manufacturing, industrial, distressed property, and cell tower transactions.

Real estate matters can involve substantial financial investment and significant time to evaluate, process and finalize. The last thing you want to be confronted with is a serious legal difficulty that can not only cause you to deal with extra expense and frustration but also the possibility of having the deal fall through completely or be exposed to potential legal ramifications.

In Minnesota, as in most locations through the country, real estate transaction and litigation matters involve intricate statutes and regulations that govern the construction, sale, purchase, leasing, litigation, and other facets affecting real estate properties and interests.

Whether you are buying, selling, leasing, constructing, or facing legal disputes involving a real estate property, the best decision you can make is speak with an experienced real estate attorney to ensure you are taking the proper precautions, planning to fulfill your objectives, addressing contingencies, and protecting your investments.

In both commercial and residential real estate matters, having professional, practical and creative legal representation, advice and counsel to help guide you through a wide range of situations and opportunities is invaluable, including in such matters as:

  • contract negotiation, review and preparation
  • construction, including construction contract negotiations and structuring
  • due diligence and property condition
  • land and project development disputes
  • zoning and regulatory concerns
  • environmental issues
  • title examination
  • closing the transaction
  • landlord/tenant lease and dispute resolution
  • litigation, arbitration, negotiation and settlement of disputes

Ken has for a quarter century provided dedicated legal representation on a wide range of real estate matters in transactional and litigation arenas to individuals and businesses throughout the greater Twin Cities area and across Minnesota.  Because his clients’ real estate matters often involve needs in other areas of practice, such as business and commercial law, business succession, family business succession, estate and probate planning, and litigation, he also offers those services to his clients.
