Lori represents buyers and sellers in the acquisition, disposition, and development of commercial property, including convenience stores with fuel facilities, retail centers, office buildings, warehouse facilities, and mixed use developments. She also represents commercial property owners and tenants in eminent domain cases in Ohio.
In addition, Lori represents commercial property owners in the financing of development projects utilizing Historic Tax Credits, New Markets Tax Credits, construction financing, and conventional financing as well as representing landlords and tenants in leasing matters. Her practice encompasses the resolution of complex real estate issues. Lori is recognized by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and is named to the Ohio Super Lawyers list and The Best Lawyers in America©.
Prior to attending law school, Lori was the Real Estate Manager (reporting directly to the Vice President) for a convenience store chain with approximately 1,000 stores located throughout seven Midwestern states. In her role as Real Estate Manager, she managed the real estate portfolio, worked with the development team on new store development and subsequently played a key role in the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy and sale under Section 363 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. Lori’s clients find her business experience particularly useful when evaluating legal issues from a management and operational perspective.
We serve as national leasing counsel to specialty retailers with more than 1,000 stores and locations in almost every state in the U.S., and are regularly engaged by the world’s largest restaurant company (with more than 33,000 restaurants worldwide) for acquisitions and disposition of locations around the country. Our clients also include leading apartment owners and developers, shopping center owners, general contractors, property managers, lenders, investors, municipalities, and school districts. Our approach is multidisciplinary, engaging team members from related practice areas such as tax, finance, nonprofit, employment and labor, and others when appropriate.
